After years of aspiring to blend her advocacy for sustainability and fashion within the marketing and media scope, Ellie is continue to evolve her portfolio of experience. This has been within the industry and alongside her indispensable knowledge acquired through her course, Fashion Marketing and Media at UoW. Following a number of personal blogs, Ellie has adapted this current site to encompass a variety of topics and examples of previous work as featured by Blue Sky Garden Gifts, Olga Anderson, Fashion Scout, Ringwood Life magazine and FS/AW.
After graduating into the pandemic, Ellie took the opportunity to work freelance for the family business, Blue Sky Garden Gifts as a social media manager and brand designer. Working alongside her 9-5, Ellie has learned along the way, furthering her skill set within graphic design and branding especially.
By undertaking additional online courses and applying many things learned throughout university, she has rebranded the small, garden gifts business ready to become a fully optimised e-commerce brand.
Building an entire SEO-optimised website, integrated with Shopify.
Creating the businesses’ Instagram and Pinterest social media pages from scratch and formed a social media strategy to build these up within the coming months.
Rebranding the business, designing a revived logo, branding colours, fonts and any additional graphics. Designing business cards, thank you notes, stickers and social media posts were all part of the process.
Creating social media content by taking imagery and writing all the copy. Scheduling all posts and engaging with followers.
A MailChimp email marketing strategy is also currently being devised to increase customer retention and brand awareness.
Blue Sky Garden Gifts has been a really lovely project and one that Ellie will continue to work on as the business grows.
Ellie worked as a copywriter and social media assistance for a luxury fashion brand, based in London. Olga Anderson offers bespoke workwear and occasion styles to empower women of all walks of life. Tasks have included writing cohesive brand guidelines, social media marketing, blog writing and miscellaneous copywriting text. Mediums ranged from both personal and business Facebook and linkedIn accounts, Instagram and the blog.
Fashion Scout Events:
Ellie gained vital industry experience at Fashion Scout Events within the digital team as a writer for two seasons, AW18 and SS19. This fast-paced environment brought key lessons within catwalk reporting, interviewing and sponsored writing. Well prepared research and background information on designers and leading trends paved the way for an array of exciting and engaging catwalk pieces that are all featured on the Fashion Scout website.
Ringwood Life Magazine:
As an experimental local magazine, Ringwood Life published a handful of issues for the people of Ringwood which featured upcoming events and style articles. Ellie wrote about a number of trending topics that were key within the magazine and this was her first work published in print. This premise encourages creative freedom and the vitality of writing for a broad audience and choosing topics accordingly.
FS/AW is the University of Winchester’s newly formed Fashion Society that aims to bring together style, fashion and business people-alike to write and discuss everything fashion. Ellie and co-chair, Bethan expanded the society and build the website and blog to engage with other students and fashion-lovers. The society blog offers a range of industry pieces with style and trend articles with a focus on sustainability.
