SHOW INSIGHT: LIMKOKWING UNIVERSITY

DAY THREE

Fashion Scout at London Fashion Week

Limkokwing University, based in Malaysia, is Asia’s most international university. It’s main campus hosts 30,000 students from over 160 countries, making it the premium yet competitive place to study. Limkokwing now operates in 14 different countries, and with a campus on Chancery Lane, London, they are the first Asian university to have a permanent presence in the UK. There are almost 200 ambitious programmes that cover all creative industries and they are the world’s first University to have a fashion label, investing consistently in their students’ futures.

Proud family and friends were cheering before the show had even begun. We saw a variety of glamorous pieces, sequinned from top to bottom. First to make the runway was black high waisted disco pants with sequinned panels at the side. Justin Timberlake played as a whole mix of tailored suits in jacquard with intricate beading came down the runway. An impressive black asymmetrical top, with one long fluted sleeve, and pink and green floral embroidery was one of the standout pieces. Throughout the collection black garments were elevated with gems, embroidery, sequins, and other embellishments, demonstrating the craftsmanship and hard work that went into each individual piece.

There was an array of evening-wear, consisting of long, sexy formal gowns enriched by their unique textiles and designs. The hair was styled with PVC bows in space buns, creating a fun and playful feel. Encrusted black stilettos also ensured the looks were elegant and sleek.

Limkokwing’s collaborations with industry partners ensures that talks and workshops are readily available, allowing students to fully engage with their career paths. They are also able to retail their designs while completing their education. This aids students by giving them insights into the latest market trends and the most sought out skills within the industry. In turn this creates brilliantly talented young people, full of character and aspiration and gives them the skills to succeed.
